Moab’s annual Easter Jeep Safari has begun. While America’s original SUV has already revealed its unique concepts, our favorite being the Scrambler, there is bigger news. Jeep Wrangler 2024 lineup is now fully revealed. It’s a response to Ford Bronco on several levels. Consider the JL Willys Wrangler, an updated version. The Willys package is not trimmed. It’s a comprehensive package that is only available on the 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sport S.
2024 Jeep Wrangler Willys Review
The Wrangler Willys will share the Rubicon’s Tru-Lok rear lock as standard for 2024. It also shares the Rubicon’s standard steel rock sliders and the heavy-duty electrical system. The Wrangler Willys now comes standard with 33-inch BFG KO2 tire sizes, instead of the 32-inch tires that were previously available. Willys is also available with the new Dana 44 HD rear axle, which is standard on Rubicon.
A 2024 Jeep Wrangler Willys is also offered with an Xtreme 35 package. The Xtreme 35 Package upgrades the tires to 35-inch KO2 while adding 17″ Beadlock wheels, a 4.561:1 axle ratio, and a swing-gate reinforcement to support the weight of the larger tire. Factory suspension lifts with specially tuned shocks. We’re now talking. The Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe, for those who prefer a more efficient transfer case, will be equipped with the Selec-Trac 4LO full-time transmission. This has a ratio of 2,72:1 and is available in the model year 2024. The 2024 Jeep Wrangler Willys has four skid plates. The skid plates protect the fuel tank and transfer case as well as the transmission oil pan.
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler will continue to be a body-on-frame vehicle with a five-link coil rear suspension. It also features two upper and lower high-strength control arms, which are used for longitudinal axle control. A track bar is used for lateral control. The front suspension features two upper- and two lower-strengthened steel control arms to control longitudinally and a track bar across the car for lateral control.
For safety, the Jeep Wrangler Sport S 2024 and higher models now include forward collision warning, advanced cruise control, and stop, while blindspot detection, cross-path detection, and ParkSense rear parking assist system are available on Rubicon, Rubicon Sport S, Willys, and Sahara. All models come standard with a ParkView rear backup camera, dynamic gridlines, and traction control.
Eight different Wranglers will be available in 2024. Two of them are new: Sports S 4xe, and Rubicon X. The Sport S 4xe pairs the second-cheapest Wrangler with Jeep’s plug-in hybrid engine, which combines a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine and two electric motors for 375 hp (and 470 lb.-ft. of torque).
Consider the Rubicon X a “Rubicon Plus.” The Rubicon X has all the features of the Rubicon standard model, including electronic sway bars, locking differentials in the front and rear, and a transfer case with four low settings. It also comes with heated front seats, heated steering wheels, steel bumpers, and an off-road camera.
Exterior
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler’s exterior has been given a revamp too, with a reworked grille design and a windshield-integrated radio antenna. The 10-wheel designs, exterior colors, 2 body styles, and roof styles are all customizable. You’ll also find Stellantis Uconnect 5, a new infotainment platform, on the standard 12.3″ touchscreen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and optional navigation are all standard.
A factory-installed Warn Winch is also available for the Wrangler Rubicon 2024. The winch is mounted in a steel bumper with removable endcaps and has a rated weight of 8000 pounds. There’s also LED exterior lighting, trailering packages, and a few auxiliary switches for wiring up aftermarket equipment.
Engine
Jeep has made a few improvements to the Wrangler off-road trim, no matter which trim you select. The new Dana 44 HD rear axle is the biggest improvement. It separates the wheel assembly from the shaft. The axle tube now supports the vehicle’s weight, not the axle. This is not only better for off-roading but also allows the Wrangler Rubicon the ability to tow a greater amount of weight: up to 5000 pounds in Rubicon models equipped with 2.0-liter turbo-four or 3.6-liter V-6 models. The Wrangler Rubicon is also better equipped to handle upsized tires from third parties without needing any upgrades.
Rubicon won’t be the only Wrangler trim to get upgrades in 2024 Wrangler Willys models now come standard with a rear locking differential, steel rock rails, a towing package, and 33-inch wheels. The Wrangler High Altitude gets thicker glass and power seats. It also has Nappa leather seating, a soft-top roof that can be folded, and Nappa leather upholstery. The 6.4-liter V-8-powered Rubicon 392, which was discontinued in 2016, is back for 2024. The Rubicon 392 has the same 470 horsepower and 470 pounds-feet of torque, but it now comes with 35-inch wheels and thicker glass. It also includes additional sound-deadening and heated seats.
2024 Jeep Wrangler Willys Price & Release Date
Jeep has not yet released pricing for the Wrangler 2024, but we expect it to start in the mid-$30,000 area. Delivery will begin in the second half of this year.
