The new 2024 Ford Escape has been finally spied testing. Interestingly, Ford’s compact crossover will receive many changes in terms of styling. As we can see, the new SUV is wearing a squarer grille and sharper headlights connected by an LED strip. In case you didn’t know, the Escape was Ford’s best-selling SUV in one moment. Exactly five years ago, Ford sold more than 300,000 units of its Escape compact crossover. However, the fourth-generation model hasn’t proved with around 178,000 sold in 2020.
So, Ford is preparing a facelift, and the prototype of the new crossover has been spotted completely undisguised near its production facility in Kentucky. So, without further ado, here’s everything we know about the new SUV.
2024 Ford Escape Review
In this department, the 2024 Ford Escape dominates with its unique design. Basically, depending on chosen trim, the creation of this SUV will vary. For example, the SE Sport Appearance package takes this SUV to a higher level thanks to black-finished 19-inch alloy wheels, along with various other exterior paint in black.
The SEL Stealth AWD package is also available and it does pretty much the same thing as the Sport Appearance package with some extra touches. The Escape can be had in many different colors including three metallic blues: Atlas, Iced, and Stone.
Interior and Changes
Like the outgoing model, the new one will offer the same comfortable seats. The maximum rear legroom is 40.7 inches, which still matched the Honda CR-V. Moreover, we must add that the luggage area behind measures 33.5 cubic feet and is expandable to 65.4 cubic feet. However, by choosing either a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, the figures will drop to 30.7/60.8 cubic feet.
Along with a large infotainment touchscreen, the manufacturer as standard offers also keyless entry/start, USB-A and USB-C ports, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, enhanced voice recognition, and voice-controlled navigation.
Powertrain
From the information that we got, the facelifted 2024 Ford Escape is expected to continue to offer gas, hybrid, and plug-in variants. This means we can expect the same turbocharged 1.5-liter unit, which makes 180 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. This model also uses an 8-speed automatic transmission sending output to the front wheels in standard form, while all-wheel drive is optional.
The SEL uses the second turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that develops 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, using the same 8-speed transmission. All-wheel drive is standard with this engine. Moreover, there is also an on-offer hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Both are deploying a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, which thanks to an electric motor has a combined output of 200 horsepower. Ford claims that the PHEV model can cover a useful 37 miles in electric vehicle (EV) mode.
2024 Ford Escape Price & Release Date
The manufacturer’s suggested retail price of the 2024 Ford Escape starts at $25,555 for the S trim with front wheels. The hybrid model is around $28k in SE trim, while the plug-in hybrid on the SE trim is over $33k. All models should hit markets sometime next year, probably in the summertime.
