The third generation of VW’s flagship SUV is now available. It has been in production since 2018, and it seems like it’s about time to update. The German carmaker is working on a facelift for its most expensive model, and the test model has been seen. It is still hiding the changes but we can see that this update will be mainly about aesthetics. The 2024 VW Touareg’s ends will be updated with new styling details.
However, we are not sure of the interior design details. We will still have the possibility of some interior changes, at the very least, new features and color schemes. The powertrain will largely remain the same. However, there are chances that several powertrain options may be updated with mild-hybrid technology. This is especially true for basic gasoline and diesel versions.
2024 VW Touareg Review
The German manufacturer is preparing a mid-cycle refresh for the third generation of its current model, as we have just mentioned. The snow-covered test mule was visible, with a few camouflaged areas that indicate the potential for changes. The cover at the front mimics the model’s design, in an attempt to fool the viewers. We believe that the 2024 VW Touareg would have new headlights and other changes to the surrounding area.
Camouflage is also available for the rear end. The taillights in this example are covered with classic camo. The updated models will include the new ones. We also expect mid-cycle updates such as new colors and new wheels.
We don’t anticipate any major changes in mechanics. The chassis and suspension should be kept the same. This is a good thing considering the car’s impressive driving experience. Air suspension is standard equipment. It offers the same balance as the Audi Q7 in comfort and athleticism.
Interior
There might be some new features inside the mid-cycle refresh. Details are not yet available, but we believe that there could be some minor changes to the dashboard and center console. Even if there are no design changes, it is possible to expect new colors and new materials. The majority of the details will stay the same as in the current model. It has a simple but elegant design that is well-complemented by many tech features.
The 2024 VW Touareg SUV will be large so there will still be plenty of space for passengers. The two rows of comfortable and spacious seats are complemented by the third row which is slightly smaller but offers a decent level of comfort. The cargo area is also quite adequate. The base models come standard with leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, a heated steering wheel, and seats, as well as leather upholstery.
Sources suggest that the optional 15-inch infotainment display could be included in the standard equipment. To go along with other goodies such as adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assistance, parking sensors could also be added to the standard equipment.
Engines
There are also updates under the hood that could be made, but not major ones. The current engines will likely be slightly electrified with a mild 48-volt hybrid system. This will likely be available for all models, and it will provide slightly higher fuel efficiency. The 2.0-liter turbo-four produces 250 horsepower. There is also a 3.0-liter V6 that produces 340 horsepower. The Touareg can also be ordered with a diesel engine in most markets. It has a 3.0-liter V6 with 340 horsepower.
The super-capable plug-in hybrid version is also available. It is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline motor that puts out 450 horsepower. All models are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2024 Volkswagen Touareg Release Date
We don’t think the 2024 VW Touareg will arrive much sooner than normal, despite the recent updates. It is expected to hit the markets sometime in the second half of 2019.
