The GMC is sending out a subtle message that boasts the good stuff about the 2024 GMC Canyon. The teaser video challenges people (by transporting passengers and drivers) to nowhere. The video teaser was short, but it packs many meaningful messages. If you can find the meaning, that’s good! Not to mention that the bully is reminding us that the ride is almost here.
The Meaning of the Short Video
The teaser video wants to deliver messages to Canyon future owners to find nowhere. Suppose the future Canyon does have the abilities like the recently introduced Chevy Colorado. In that case, the ride would be able to adventure into the more profound and off-beaten path to nowhere. If you think of it, it should be similar to Colorado. After all, both trucks are identical as they are under the same umbrella as General Motors.
2024 GMC Canyon AT4
Although it’s not clear about the availability of the AT4 trim level, it seems that the AT4X trim would be offered. In case you don’t know, it is the offroad version of the regular AT4. The features would be able to lift the truck while supporting (and also improving) the aggressive offroad tires. Let’s not forget that it would come with an upgraded suspension that can handle the rugged terrain while searching for nowhere. Unfortunately, further details about the 2024 GMC Canyon, including the AT4 and AT4X information, haven’t been available yet, but we should hear more about them closing on the launch date.
Design and Layout
In terms of design, the Canyon may be inspired by Colorado. After all, Colorado comes with a simplified powertrain and design. Chevy offers midsize truck lineups with single bed length and crew cab configurations. The current platform uses the GMT 31XX type, while the future one is said to use the GM VSS-T type, although the company hasn’t made any confirmation about it.
Powertrain and Performance
It seems that GMC may not be fussy enough with their upcoming Canyon. They only offer one engine option, the four-cylinder turbocharged unit with 2.7-liter capacity but coming in 3 different power outputs. The output would depend on the selected trims.
Until now, the Canyon prototype testing ride was only seen within the crew cab configuration so that it may fit the theory about the design and layout. Moreover, the current Colorado or Canyon trucks are made available with matching engine picks, so it would only be logical if the future (and the upcoming) models would carry over the current trend.
Since this is the case, expect 237 hp and 351 Nm of torque for the lower trims. The bit higher trims could enjoy 310 hp and 529 Nm of torque, while the highest decorations would get 310 hp and 583 Nm of torque. All of these numbers would be the standard features, but again, GMC hasn’t confirmed whether the numbers are valid or not.
2024 GMC Canyon Release Date
This upcoming Canyon would be the third-gen in its line. And the release date has been planned to take place after 2023. For now, the current Canyon (the second-gen) would be minor improvements, updates, and changes. GMC should be serious about planning and preparing the Canyon, considering it would have to compete against Chevy Colorado, Nissan Frontier, and Toyota Tacoma. These are all reliable brands in the midsize pickup truck (the light duty type).
There is no information on where the Canyon would be manufactured. Still, considering that the second-gen was done at GM Wentzville Factory (located in Missouri), it’s possible that the upcoming 2024 GMC Canyon would also follow suit.
