Chevrolet Trax enthusiasts rejoice! Chevrolet Trax enthusiasts rejoice! The Chevrolet Trax, despite moving to a new chassis with a new drivetrain is still a good entry-level vehicle. The new Chevrolet Trax is built on the same platform that the Chevrolet Trailblazer. Its target market is price-conscious buyers who need a more spacious crossover vehicle than the Trailblazer.
2024 Chevrolet Trax Concept
The new Trax has a turbocharged inline-three engine instead of the 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine from the older model. It’s so similar in design to the Trailblazer’s engine, it shouldn’t surprise anyone familiar with the model.
When equipped with the Trax trim’s six-speed automatic transmission, the 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine produces 137 horsepower and 162 pounds-feet torque to the front wheels. This is a lot less power than the Trax’s current generation, which has 155 horsepower but 177 pound-feet of torque. Answering the question about why Trailblazer’s all-wheel drive system or continuously variable transmission (CVT), did not make it to the final cut is simple: cost.
The Trailblazer was larger than the Trax up until now. It may surprise you to find that the new ’24Trax is more spacious than the Trailblazer. The new model measures 11 inches longer than its predecessor, measuring 167.6 inches. It is also larger than the Trailblazer’s 173.5-inch measurement.
Chevrolet’s guys took advantage of this extra length and increased the Trax’s wheelbase by 6 inches compared to the vehicle it replaced. The Trax’s extended wheelbase should make it more stable on the highway. A larger vehicle can also hold more goods and passengers. Passengers in the second row have an extra 3 inches of legroom, while cargo has an additional 12%.
Specs
The LS and 1RS trims have a media screen measuring 8 inches and are attached to the dashboard. The Chevrolet Trax’s most expensive models have a large 11-inch screen. It is accompanied by a digital instrument cluster measuring 8 inches. The screen on the new Trax will be one inch larger than the current model’s 7.0-inch screen.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
We’ll update this section when the EPA rates the Chevy Trax 2024’s fuel economy. To test the Trax’s real-world efficiency, we plan to take it on our 75-mph highway fuel consumption route.
The new Trax’s front-drive Trailblazer, which shares its powertrain, is rated at 29 mpg in city driving and 33 mpg on the highway. Due to its larger dimensions, we expect the Trax will be able to match or slightly exceed those figures. Visit the EPA website for more information on the Trax’s fuel economy.
Interior, Comfort, & Cargo
The interior of the new Chevy Trax has been completely redesigned. The interior features a well-placed infotainment screen for the driver and climate controls. All other materials are standard in this segment. The Trax’s new wheelbase is longer than ever before.
This has allowed for about three inches more rear legroom and increased cargo space. Although tech luxuries like remote start, heated front seats, steering wheel, and steering wheel are dependent on trim, they add a touch of life to an otherwise boring interior.
Connectivity and Infotainment
The Trax LS and 1RS trims get an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen as standard equipment. This is a bigger unit than what was available on the most expensive version of the previous generation. Trims LT and higher include an 11.0-inch touchscreen and an 8.0-inch gauge cluster.
The driver command center controls most of the Trax tech, including wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a wireless charger and hotspot.
