Oliver Blume, Porsche’s CEO, announced that the 718 EV would arrive by the middle of 2023 at the Annual Media Conference 2023. This announcement was made after the company had confirmed the launch of the Cayenne EV during its 2022 Capital Markets Day, July 18, 2022. This development was already being reported in the media.

This would align with Porsche’s 2021 strategy, which was announced during its earnings report on March 19, 2021. According to Porsche, the brand will strive for a CO2-neutral balance by 2030. This involves many initiatives and investments. Notable ones include that half of all new Porsche cars will come with an electric motor in 2025 and that more than 80% will be electric in 2030. Referring to the numbers, 40% of Porsches sold in Europe in 2021 had a full- or partial electric motor (PHEV).

The Cayenne Electric will be launched by Porsche with a dual-motor powertrain. However, it is possible that other models could also have this capability. The man responsible for the Porsche 911 and 718 models said that there might be one, two, three, or four motors in the car. Walliser was talking about future two-door electric Porsches, and not an SUV when he spoke of potential tri-motor or quad-motor models.

Audi claims that the PPE is identical to the MEB of the parent VW Group, but has higher performance parameters and outputs. The PPE can support up to 800V and can be charged with 270 kW of fast charging. Standard features include a rear-mounted electric motor and an optional second motor for the front axle with AWD. Audi also outlined the PPE’s key features as torque vectoring, all-wheel steering, air suspension, and a low floor for more interior packaging. The 2024 Audi Q6 E-tron is the first PPE vehicle to be launched.

The Porsche Cayenne EV might have a more refined appearance than the current gas-powered SUV. The Porsche Taycan could be the inspiration for the mask, which in turn is inspired by the Porsche Mission E design. The new electric SUV could have a lower hood and digital LED headlights that feature four-point visuals in DRLs. There may also be air curtains below the headlights. Porsche could also rework its design language when it launches its second electric SUV.

Porsche is experiencing delays in the development and release of the E31.2 platform (a next-generation universal software platform and related architecture), which it plans to use in its Cayenne EV. Software development issues could delay the Cayenne Electric Vehicle’s release date. This is why the company had to delay the production of the Macan EV.
