In the past few years, Toyota and Lexus started an extensive process of re-designing the entire body-on-frame. This has already resulted in a brand modern version of Land Cruiser, LX, Tundra, Sequoia, etc. The time has come for the mid-sized range. The brand-new Tacoma was recently unveiled as well and the 4Runner is expected to arrive shortly, too. In the end, we are counting on the new generation of GX that will likely be the last to arrive. The official announcements are not talking, however, the majority of our sources indicate that the model could be available in the coming year and will be called the 2025 Lexus GX 550.
We are expecting a lot of the next model, which should not be surprising since the model we have been using has been around for almost 15 years. It’s outdated in many ways, therefore we’re pretty certain that the new features will be substantial. This is a reference to every aspect of the car, starting with the brand new platform, the new engine as well as interior design, aesthetics, and so on.
2025 Lexus GX 550 Redesign
As we mentioned earlier the next generation is currently in the process of being developed and will likely come out in 2025 Lexus GX 550. At the moment Lexus is trying to keep the details of its vehicles to a minimum. But, some aspects of the Luxury SUV are easy to determine. Of course, the platform is just among the first things that come to our minds. Similar to the other models in the BoF range it will change to the new TNGA-F platform. It is a little smaller compared in comparison to LX. The benefits are expected to be the same, beginning with a smoother ride. It will permit the use of advanced technologies, be it the most recent driver-assistance features or hybrid powertrains. We also expect to see a different improved, more precise suspension system. A few sources have also suggested the possibility of air suspension as an option.
Exterior
In terms of its exterior appearance, are counting on the application of the brand’s most recent design language. The front-end design will resemble the size of the LX in some way but the overall appearance will be similar to the model that was released earlier. We aren’t expecting an increase in size although it could be extremely beneficial for the amount of space for passengers. Instead, the wheelbase will be quite small for the size of the vehicle, which could be extremely advantageous for off-roading possibilities.
In terms of off-roading, the 2025 Lexus GX 550 should be at a minimum as powerful as the current generation. This means that it will have a respectable level of ground clearance and numerous optional and standard off-road features. Four-wheel drive is an option, but you could include features like skid plates, a locked differential crawl control Transmission cooler Multi-Terrain monitors, and others.
Interior
The model currently in use has an excellent build quality, however, because it’s been in use for far too long, the model appears outdated. We expect a major improvement in this area. The new model will feature better materials and a beautiful design. Naturally, having a whole set of the most modern features is a further thing we anticipate to make a major impact on the overall luxury feel.
For the size of the seats it is likely that since the wheelbase is expected to be the same, it won’t be much different from the model currently in use. The model that is out of production comes having three rows of seats but the last row isn’t the most spacious in terms of space. The cargo space however is typical for the class. We can therefore assume that the model we are introducing won’t cause significant changes in this area as well.
Engine
It will be among the most innovative features of the 2025 Lexus GX 550 when it pertains to the modifications. This model currently is nothing less than efficient with regards to its powertrain. It has a classic V8 engine, which has excellent sound but doesn’t have a lot of power. Not only is it lacking performance by modern standards, but it’s extremely thirsty. It is possible to get over 15 miles per gallon when driving in the city, and 19 mpg on the highway.
The next generation is going to be quite different. We expect it to be equipped with a hybrid powertrain. Based on the verification process that we have seen, we are expecting lower power than the larger LX. This is why we’re fairly certain that the new hybrid engine will be built on a 2.4-liter turbo-four motor. The engine should be like the one that was recently revealed in the brand new Tacoma model, which has three-quarters of a horsepower, and four hundred pounds-feet of torque. In this instance, the power and torque numbers will likely rise a bit. Apart from a hybrid engine, we’ll also see a Tundra that has a 3.4-liter turbo V6. It’s the exact engine that is used in the regular Tundra model but with a maximum output of 349 HP.
2025 Lexus GX 550 Release Date and Price
We believe for 2025 Lexus GX 550 will arrive in the second half of 2024. In terms of price, we think that the next model could begin at around 60,000 dollars.
