2024 VW T-Cross Facelift Revealed

Volkswagen took off the wraps of the refreshed T-Cross by injecting the smallest of its SUV line-up with fresh styling cues, as well as a revamped interior. This was just four years after its first launch.

In the official press pictures, VW only showed the more sporty R-Line trim, but we’ve seen a few models of the T-Cross without camouflage and we’re familiar with the changes to the design of the smaller models, too.

On the front, the larger grille features an LED bar of full width which replaces the chrome stripe. It connects with the headlights with IQ.Light The LED Matrix system. The new bumper features new triangular-shaped side doors and a more simple configuration to lower the intake. The body-colored bumper accessories that are featured on the picture are exclusive to the R-Line and the lower-spec trims have the most plastic-like cladding as well as an aluminum trim around the intake, which looks like the skid plate.

The overall design remains largely the same except for the alloy wheels of 16 and 17 inches as well as the trio of brand new colors that include Grape Yellow, Clear Blue Metallic as well as Kings Red Metallic – expanding the palette of colors. The rear highlights are the striking design of the X-shaped LEDs on the taillights as well as the LED bar that is full-width at the center. The lower section on the back bumper has been updated with a large fake inlet for the R-Line, but there are no obvious exhaust pipes.

Interior

Inside, the modifications are evident since the dashboard itself has been completely redesigned. The cheap and scratchy plastics that were regarded as the weakest part of the old model have been replaced with soft and, as per VW, “significantly higher-quality” materials. The technological aspect has been upgraded with a brand-new digital cockpit.

In particular, it is the digital instrument cluster that is now standard, but the size varies between 8 and 10 inches based on the degree of trim. The touchscreen for infotainment is placed higher, measuring 8.2 inches and 9.2 inches, and can benefit from the most recent software. The climate controls have also been updated with touch sliders that are available in the option of Air Care Climatronic instead of the traditional rotary dials. Last but not least the compact SUV can now be purchased with Travel Assist ADAS.

VW is extremely proud of the practical characteristics of the T-Cross such as the rear bench that slides as well as the movable compartment for luggage that can be used for 385-450 in lt (13.6-16.1 cubic feet) as well as the drawbar load that is raised from 55kg (121 pounds) to 75kg (165 pounds) to allow you to carry more bikes with a bike carrier.

Powertrain

The VW T-Cross, which is a high-riding sister to the Polo supermini, is based on the same MQB A0 platform. The powertrain line-up is inherited from the model before facelifting, meaning that the T-Cross does not come with any electrified options, unlike its competition.

Turbocharged 1.0 TSI three-cylinder petrol is offered with 94 horsepower (70 kW/95 PS) or 113 horsepower (85 kW/115 PS) and the more powerful turbocharged 1.5 TSI four-cylinder makes 148 horsepower (110 kW/150 PS). The power is sent via the front end by a five-speed manual or manual with a 6-speed, or a 7-speed DSG automated, which is available on the most powerful version.

Futures

The official introduction of the revised VW T-Cross will be scheduled to begin in early 2024’s first quarter with pre-sales beginning during the last quarter of 2023. The compact SUV will also be available in other markets outside of Europe under the brand names Tacqua and Taigun Tacqua and has 1.2 million cumulative sales from its launch in the year 2019.
