2024 Ford Kuga Will Come More Sporty

The compact SUV segment is becoming increasingly popular in Europe, just as it was a few years ago. Ford’s SUV needs to be updated to stay competitive in an increasingly crowded market. The 2024 Ford Kuga will be getting a facelift. We expect similar updates to Kuga’s next model, the Escape in North America.

There would be many changes. The most obvious changes would be in aesthetics. However, we expect notable improvements on the inside, particularly in terms of new tech and convenience. However, we don’t know if there will be any changes to the engine. We expect the 2024 Ford Kuga to arrive in the second half of this year, despite arriving a bit sooner than normal, based on all the expected updates.

We’ve already mentioned that aesthetic updates are the most important. The 2023 Escape received significant styling improvements, so we expect the same changes to be made. A completely new front would be created, with taller headlights and a grille that is bolder and more aggressive. The rear end will be the same as the front, with similar-styled taillights and a few updates. We expect to see the usual mid-cycle changes such as new wheels and color options.

However, we do not expect any mechanical changes. The SUV is built on the familiar C2 platform that supports the current-generation Focus. It has a refined chassis and suspension setup which provide a great driving experience and a very engaging ride.

Interior

We also count on improvements on the inside. We are referring to Escape in the U.S., which had the same dashboard design, but was equipped with new tech and convenience features. The new 12.3-inch model will be the most popular, while the base model will have an 8-inch touchscreen. The next-generation software will be available for both units. It has better graphics and a more intuitive layout. As standard equipment, all models will include a digital instrument cluster.

We could see small-scale changes, like new colors or new materials. The overall layout of the cabin will not change. Although it doesn’t have the same flashy appearance as other cabins, this cabin is functional, spacious, and comfortable. Each row is spacious enough to accommodate adults. The cargo area is approximately 475 liters larger than the second row, which seems to be quite common for this segment.

Trim Levels

This update will bring more standard equipment. We expect the trim-level organization to remain the same. Base models will continue to carry the Zetec moniker. They will include the digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch infotainment system, and alloy wheels.

The next trim will be the Titanium Edition. It comes with upgraded features like larger wheels, LED headlights, and better audio systems. The ST-Line is a mid-level option that features a lot of unique styling and upgraded suspension. The ST-Line X Edition adds larger wheels and a panoramic sunroof. Kuga’s most exclusive trim level, the Vignale, will continue to be the Vignale, which features unique styling details and finer interior materials like leather upholstery.

Engine

We have already stated that the vehicle’s mechanical aspects won’t be changing. We expect base models to be equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 150 horsepower. The engine is available with a manual transmission, and it returns approximately 42 mpg combined.

The electrified lineup continues with the classic hybrid. This is powered by a 2.5-liter Inline-four. It produces 191 horsepower and averages 50 MPG. The same system can also be found in a plugin hybrid configuration, which has a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor. This gives a total output power of 210 horsepower. Both units are equipped with a continuously variable transmission. In all-electric mode, the PHEV offers 37 miles of range.

2024 Ford Kuga Price and Release Date

We expect the 2024 Ford Kuga to arrive in the second half of the year. It won’t be any more expensive than the current model which is priced at about PS31.000. The competition will be the Toyota RAV4, VW Tiguan, and Peugeot 3008 models.
