Mazda understands that competition amongst SUVs and crossovers is getting more challenging, so they have been preparing their 2024 Mazda CX90 for the upcoming rivalry. With the heated (midsize) SUV market’s situation, it’s pretty understandable if Mazda wants to get prepared. Not only are they planning on a new design and production, but they also ensure that they have included the right features, specs, and offers to make their CX90 stand out among the crowds. The question is: Has Mazda done enough to keep its reign going on?
The Updated Plan with CX90
Mazda has created the CX9, which has also been known as a reliable vehicle with promising outcomes. However, the Japanese auto manufacturer wants to step up the game by creating the CX90, which they believe would attract interest in a particular market. The CX90 is designed to be a little bit compact version of the CX70.
CX9 is designed to deliver impressive performance. The vehicle has created a new standard for the SUV segment’s style and comfort, but then the company wants to create an even better performance boost. And that’s why they make CX90 which is believed to turn heads and attract everyone’s attention.
Mazda claims that SUV demands are increasing. They are planning on launching two SUV crossovers for the American market soon enough. Right now, Mazda is planning on developing the CX90 as well as CX70, which are almost the same as CX60, which is the JDM model. Here’s the layout: The CX90 is designed to replace the CX9 for the US auto market. This one would be created as a three-row seater. The CX70 would be a two-row seater version of the CX90, and it would be introduced later on after they debuted the CX90.
The Premium Take
Since the CX90 is designed to be the solid replacement for the already familiar (and likable) CX9, it’s only logical if Mazda wants to add a more premium take to its lineup. It’s safe to assume that the future 2024 Mazda CX90 would be a more premium creation, sporting three room arrangement and inline-six turbocharged units. The interior cabin has a spacious and roomy vibe, and there is a sense of luxurious (and plush) seating layout to the entire ride.
Mazda’s journey won’t be easy. It’s going to be challenging. Being the CX9 replacement means that the upcoming CX90 would have to deal with tough rivalries, such as Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, and also Ford Explorer. However, suppose Mazda is serious about implementing all-out luxury aspects and the latest technologies. In that case, it’s even possible for the CX90 to get into the premium (midsize) SUV categories, which means that it may compete against Ranger Rover Sport (Land Rover) and also X5 (BMW).
Powertrain and Performance
There isn’t anything clear or defined about the new CX90, but it seems that Mazda is going to try its new powertrain layout with inline-six turbocharged units with a 3.0-liter capacity, which is going to pair with 48V hybrid technology. To make it even more appealing, the CX90 would likely be coming with PHEV (Plug Hybrid Variant), which is marketed for electric enthusiasts and eco-friendly fans.
Mazda has already created one PHEV model within the European market, with their SUV CX60. It’s possible that the CX90 could incorporate the inline four-cylinder unit (used in CX60) with a 17.8 kWh battery pack. Mazda SUV lines today are coming with the all-wheel driving system as the standard feature. We still need to wait for further information about the 2024 Mazda CX90 from the company, so stay tuned!
