Since the 2025 BMW M5 Hybrid was launched back in 1998, it has been identified by its driving dynamics and strong engine. It was initially a straight-six engine and was later upgraded with a V-8 or V-10, however regardless it had, it always had plenty of power behind the hood. The most powerful model is the present M5 generation, with more than 591 horsepower coming from a powerful V-8.
2025 BMW M5 Hybrid Review
The M5’s seventh generation will adopt a different approach. It will be a hybrid! This should not come as a surprise as many manufacturers are seeking to boost the power of their product line-up and has been a subject of speculation for quite some time. However, now, BMW M Workshop Manager, Hans Rahn, has said that the M5’s next model will be hybrid.
Rumors of the next M5 being a hybrid go back to the year 2020, at the time that U.K.’s Car Magazine announced the next M5 would most likely be the first vehicle from BMW to be powered by electricity. These rumors were verified by BMW M workshop manager Hans Rahn in a press conference held at the BMW M headquarters in Garching, Germany. He confirmed that the next M5 will come with a “plug-in hybrid” powertrain paired with a “twin-turbo V8.”
Changes
This announcement confirms yet another report that suggested that the next M5 will have the same mechanicals as the coming XM. The official launch of the new M5 isn’t until 2024, which is the date that coincides with the 40th anniversary of the M5 which means there’s plenty of time to speculate. As of now, however, it’s believed that the final horsepower is expected to be between 640 and 740 horsepower range.
The most likely numbers will be available on the Competition version, thanks to an “overboost” function. Whatever the case the future M5 will be much stronger than the current model. Additionally, it will challenge the competition to the center. Take a look at the fact that the next Mercedes-AMG E63 is rumored to provide “only” 643 horsepower. The next M5 is also expected to be a pure electric vehicle with a range of approximately 80 kilometers (roughly fifty miles).
2025 BMW M5 Hybrid Revealed
Whatever you think, knowing that the M5’s next model will be a hybrid is a positive thing. This means that the V-8 will live for a time since hybridization will help keep emission levels and fuel consumption to a minimum. In addition, it gives BMW the time to get ready to prepare for an all-electric model which is expected to arrive sometime in 2030.
