The VW ID.7 will be no different. It is common in Europe for sedan/fastbacks to have a station-wagon version, to cater to customers who require extra cargo space or longer roofs. Here’s everything you need to learn about the VW ID.7 estate (codenamed: VW Aero B), which will be released soon after its sedan counterpart.
2024 VW ID.7 Station Wagon Review
Exterior
The spy pictures show that the VW ID.7’s exterior is almost identical to the donor model, up until the B pillar. The roof will be longer than the fastback and won’t fall as steeply, which results in taller side glass and larger rear quarter panels. The ID.7’s D pillar is thicker than the Passat Variant. The conventional model is dull because of its boxy greenhouse design and simple D pillar. But the electric version will be sleek and fast.
The ID.7’s D-pillar has a steeper angle, and the back glass is more forward-leaning. This gives it a sportier look. A longer spoiler will add to the dynamic look of the ID.7 station wagon. The longer roof will make the ID.7 station wagon more suitable for those who wish to mount long items such as a surfboard or sled. It can also be used with a tent, storage box, and sled.
Interior
The interior of the VW ID.7 Station Wagon will likely be similar to the ID.7. The most significant difference is the larger luggage compartment located behind the rear seat. The large windows on the side and rear of the vehicle will allow customers to travel with their pets in comfort and privacy while still enjoying the view. The flatter roof could also lead to more headroom for the second row.
Dimensions
The ID.7 estate should have the same wheelbase, length, and width as the ID.7. If it is different in height, then the difference could be 1-2 mm (0.04-0.08 in.) at best. As a reference, the donor’s model measures 195.3 inches. in length, 73.3 in. The width is 60.6 inches. The wheelbase is 116.9 inches. wheelbase. The body style has a slight disadvantage in that it will cause more air resistance. The ID.7’s drag coefficient is 0.23 Cd. We estimate that the ID.7 Station Wagon will have a drag coefficient of 0.24 Cd.
Range and Performance
Volkswagen is likely to offer the ID.7 in two or three configurations. Battery options could include a unit of 77 kWh and an 86-kWh lithium-ion pack that delivers ranges (WLTP), respectively, of 375 and 420 miles. The configurations with the first may have a charging power peak of 170kW, while those with the second may accept charging up to 200kW. Fast-charging DC from 10 to 80% may take about 30 minutes. Expect 2-3 different powertrains, with a top-end unit that produces 210 kW and 282 hp. The torque is 402 lb. ft.
