2024 Polaris Xpedition Review : Off-Roading Meets Luxury

It’s easy to forget, even though they seem so commonplace now, that the entire sport side-by-side market has only been around for ten years. Since the Polaris RZR XP in 2014, the market has exploded. Polaris has launched a brand-new RZR XP for 2024 and is now redefining a market segment with the new 2024 Polaris Xpedition.

2024 Polaris Xpedition Review

The 2024 Polaris Xpedition is aimed at adventurers who love to travel overland. It combines the best features of a side-by-side sport with the attributes of the utility vehicle market, creating a truly unique vehicle. The driving experience has always been the main focus of sport and performance side by side. The Xpedition, on the other hand, was developed to be a vehicle that would allow you to get deeper into the backcountry and further off the grid, as well as bring enough people and supplies with you.

Polaris Xpedition is a rugged, versatile, and customizable motorcycle that allows riders to tackle the toughest terrain. The Xpedition comes with the latest technologies, comfort and convenience features, and the ability to easily customize it to suit the needs of any adventure. Sounds familiar? This is a description that almost exactly describes the overland crowd.

The new 999 cc parallel-twin ProStar 1000 Gen 2 engines are at the heart of Polaris’ 2024 Xpedition. This engine, which produces 114 horsepower and was first seen in the 2024 Polaris RZR XP, is also the same one that will be found on the new Polaris Xpedition. The Xpedition boasts the largest fuel tank in the industry at 12.5, which allows for a range of more than 200 miles (under proper conditions). The power is sent through a CVT with high- and low-range gears and an on-demand, all-wheel drive system.

The Xpedition is equipped with Fox Podium QS3 shock absorbers, which feature Position-Sensitive Spiral Technology. They are 2.0-inch dampers in the front and 2.5 inches in the rear. The vehicle is equipped with ProArmor Crawler XP 30-inch tires and boasts a segment-leading ground clearance of 14 inches. The wheel travel is 14 inches up front and 15 inches at the back. The vehicle has the best approach and departure angles of any overland vehicle. This is because the tires are positioned as close to the corners as they can be. The sealed electronics and high-mounted air intakes ensure that riders can tackle any trail condition with confidence.

Polaris Xpedition 2024 will be available in two different models: XP, and ADV. The underlying mechanicals of the two models are identical, but each model has some differences that appeal to different users. Xpedition ADV features a rear cargo box with a pass-through that is fully covered. The length of the flat storage space on models with 2 or 5 seats is 36 inches and 63 inches. XP models have a 30-inch open cargo box with dumping. ADV models with five seats have a fold-flat feature, while XP models come with 60/40 flip-up rear seats that can be quickly converted into extra storage. Both models have a 48-inch bed with sides that are 16 inches tall.

The 2024 Polaris Xpedition is available in three trim levels: Premium, Ultimate, and NorthStar. The Premium trim builds on the base features of the vehicle with a JBL TrailPro 2000 audio and a 660-watt stator charger system. It also comes with a JBL 4.3-inch display. Polaris Ultimate models feature a 7-inch touchscreen powered by Ride Command. The charging system has been upgraded to a system that can deliver 900 watts. JBL TrailPro surround sound audio systems come with a 400-watt amplifier and a 10-inch subwoofer. The trim includes front and rear cameras, tilt and telescopic steerage, plus a padded console and an auto-stop winch. The top trim is NorthStar, which has everything in the Ultimate model plus a fully enclosed cabin; HVAC with temperature controls and zone controls; locking full doors with power windows; and Ride command+.

Comfort

Exposure to the weather is one of the most significant disadvantages of side-by-side rides. Polaris Xpedition 2024 offers the optional Pro Shield Cab System. This is Polaris’ most integrated and tightly sealed cab enclosure. NorthStar models come with a heating/air conditioning system that has adjustable control modes. Riders can adjust the airflow and ensure the cabin is comfortable, regardless of whether it’s hot or cold. The Xpedition NorthStar is the only side-by-side sport that comes with a standard HVAC system. With power windows and an angled front windshield, riders can enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of their enclosed cab.

The Xpedition also features flat interior flooring and a large storage area at the rear. Modular rear seats are available on five-seater models, giving you even more storage space. The Xpedition is the first Polaris vehicle that will debut the new Lock & Ride MAX system.

Polaris offers five accessory collections inspired by riders to help owners customize their new Xpeditions. These collections are designed for outdoor activities such as Overlanding, Kayaking, Trail, Hunting, and Utility.
