The 2024 Mitusbishi XForce, is teased in a prototype model with the name XFC. We’ve got all the details about the vehicle that is geared toward the ASEAN market – and it’s unlikely to substitute for the ASX without major modifications. “We are studying [XForce for Australia], but it might be difficult because of regulation issues”, Takao Kato, the president, and CEO at Mitsubishi Motors, told Wheels.
“How can we improve the functionality or performance to meet the demands is the main concern for us at the moment. We are currently analyzing this problem” said the official. There’s a small chance the XForce will make it to Oz however Wheels believes that it will only occur if Mitusbishi decides to make significant investments in the upgrading of safety equipment and powertrain.
What is the Mitsubishi XForce?
The XForce is a compact SUV built on a pre-existing platform, which is similar to the one used in the ASEAN-market Xpander people-mover. It also comes with a 1.5-litre multi-point injected four-cylinder, which produces 77kW/141Nm of power, with the drive being sent directly to the front wheel by an automatic CVT – one-third less power than our standard version ASX ES 2.0-litre. It’s not exactly awe-inspiring stuff.
The dimensions are quite like the current ASX but it’s smaller. With 4390mm of length and 1810mm wide The XForce is a compact SUV. It has the 2650mm wheelbase, has seating for five people, and tipped the weight at 1245kg. It has a standard suspension system with struts in the front and a torsion beam on the back axle. There is no option for a sophisticated multi-link suspension system like you’d find in the Nissan Qashqai.
Interior
The XForce’s sleek and contemporary exterior design with sharp LED light and bold lines is an interior that is current for the time and much more elegant than the ASX’s. The stylish melange fabric-covered insert is upholstered in the dash, and above it is an equally-sized 12.3-inch touchscreen, which has connected Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.
It’s connected to a tuned Yamaha sound system, and also an 8.0-inch display for the driver’s computer also. Mitsubishi has a sly way of describing the style in its XForce “best-suited buddy for an exciting life” However, it seems like there’s some value to the storage in the cabin. Mitsubishi states that there’s room to hold 21 bottles of 600mL in the vehicle. A mix of regular USB and USB-C ports that charge fast are located in the cabin to charge devices, too.
2024 Mitsubishi XForce Price & Release Date
The official release from Mitsubishi doesn’t mention any of the sophisticated driver-assist features available for the XForce or even mention how many airbags are included or an officially issued safety score. These aren’t major problems for the ASEAN markets the XForce is aiming at. Also, the XForce is built around an old engine that’s not producing the power that Australian buyers would like and that’s a pity since the compact SUV’s sleek design and stylish interior could appeal to Australian customers.
The current ASX will remain in place for a while. It is performing very well in the eyes of the Australian population, locating 435 new homes for sale in July. It’s a significant drop from the performance of July last year (858) as well as a drop of 30.7 percent over the past year, however, it’s still able to find almost as many homes as that of the Volkswagen T-Roc (494 in July).
