The Mercedes-Benz GLE class and AMG GLE lineups are set for a mid-cycle upgrade. This includes significant changes to the powertrain and a new hybrid member. Mercedes also updated their exterior and interior styling and added options and standard features to the AMG-tuned models. All models now have an electrified system, including a 48-volt hybrid system with an integrated starter generator. Peak output is unchanged with the V-8 AMG GLE63S producing 603 horsepower and the four-cylinder GLE350 producing 255 horsepower.
GLE400e 4Matic plug-in hybrid is available to the GLE class. It combines a 134-hp motor with the turbo-four gasoline engine to produce a total of 381 horses. Optional: The all-wheel-drive GLE400e comes with a standard 11.0-kW charger onboard and a 60.0-kW fast charger.
New Models
The new model has minimal visual changes. To increase road presence, chrome inserts were placed in several places on the front. Both the headlights as well as taillights were also restyled. Mercedes has redesigned the front fascia of the AMG GLE53 with more elegant side air intakes and a jet-wing design. Instead of the standard Benz logo, the AMG badge will be displayed on the hood. Twilight Blue metallic paint is now available, as well as Manufaktur Alpen Grey. The AMG lineup also offers new upholstery options.
AMG models also get new standard features. New standard features include the AMG Performance exhaust system and MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation. Memory package, parking assistance package, parking package, and AMG Performance Steering Wheel.
The GLE580 will get a new offroad package to enhance its off-road capabilities. This kit adds 1.2 inches to the ground clearance and protects the underbelly. The interface now features an “Off-Road” mode that allows for a virtual view of the vehicle’s front, including its wheels and position. A new trailer technology has been added. Drivers can input and save their trailer dimensions to the system. The new trailer assistant controls steering angle and speed, allowing drivers to reverse up to 90 degrees when a trailer is attached.
The 2024 Mercedes GLE will have new radiator grilles and bumpers. These designs may vary depending on the configuration. Mercedes-Benz released a teaser on Twitter, on January 26, 2023, showing us the GLE SUV and GLE Coupe 2024. For a more refined look, there have been changes to the design of the LED Headlights and their DRLs. These headlights may be equipped with the “Digital Light” technology, which allows for new functions such as projecting warning symbols and navigation guidelines onto the road ahead or shining a spotlight on pedestrians who are detected along the roadside. The new GLE Coupe’s rear features revised LED taillights that have new clusters.
Mercedes has changed the bumpers and front grilles, although they aren’t visible in the teaser photo. Spy photos already show a new front bumper with narrower side intakes. Other spy photos suggest that the lower grille may have two identically divided horizontal sections. The official teaser does not show the radiator grille, but it gets new vertical slats.
The new GLE may feature ambient lighting, animated ambient lighting, and flowing light effects inside. The animations in the light band could be used to reinforce visual alerts from the driver assistance systems. It could also be used to provide feedback for voice assistant inputs and comfort systems. The JESMB report states that the 2024 GLE will not feature the MBUX hyper screen, but instead carry the MBUX with two 12.3-inch screens in the cockpit. According to the report, it will feature a new-generation steering column.
2024 Mercedes GLE Coupe Review
The refreshed 2024 Mercedes GLE Coupe, which is also under development, is currently undergoing road testing. New headlamps will be available with Digital Light technology and revised bumpers. The new grille design will also be included in the updated coupe version. Interior changes could mirror those in the SUV version.
Powertrain
The Mercedes GLE 350 de4MATIC and GLE 350 e4MATIC versions of the Mercedes GLEPHEV (sold worldwide) are currently available. GLE 350 e 4MATIC is powered by the M 274 gasoline engine. The GLE 350 de 4MATIC runs on the OM 654 diesel mill.
According to a German Mercedes Blog JESMB, the variants will be upgraded to the M 264 2.0-liter gasoline engine or the OM 654 2.0-liter diesel engine with the facelift. 2024 Mercedes GLE Coupe Release Date
