We have seen that Mazda isn’t content with just offering a luxurious, affordable urban driving experience. This new Mazda model is built on the same platform and approximately the same size as the CX-30, while maintaining the CX-5’s proportions. It has the same style and feel of constant movement as its cousins, but it also displays a strong affinity for adventure. This SUV is mid-sized and can be used for daily commutes, family camping trips, or traversing Quebec’s snowy roads. What can we expect from the 2024 Mazda CX-50 model?
2024 Mazda CX-50 Redesign
Engine
The 2024 Mazda CX-50 is likely to have the same powertrain options that the 2023 model. A 2.5 L four-cylinder engine producing 187 horsepower and a turbocharged version of 256 horsepower with a towing capability of up to 3,500lbs, which is enough to rival the Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue, and Hyundai Tucson. All models of the CX-50 will be equipped with Mazda’s i-Activ AWD. This system uses multiple sensors to monitor vehicle performance and road conditions to distribute engine power more efficiently to the wheels. A panoramic sunroof, an infotainment and entertainment system with a 10.3-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto compatibility, leather upholstery, and heated front seats are some of the standard features. These features and many others will be included in the 2024 Mazda CX-50.
Car and Driver magazine suggests that the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid could be made available shortly. However, no firm decision has been made. Although this version may be rechargeable, there is no information on its range in all-electric mode and how much power it might offer. It is possible to expect the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid 2024 to be seen in Canada. This would delight drivers who care about reducing fuel consumption and their environmental footprint.

Exterior
The exterior of the CX-50 looks sporty and confident. It has a broad stance and sleek, yet modern fascia. The car’s stylish silhouette is adorned with enough brand-specific styling cues, from Mazda’s unique ‘Kodo’ design language on its front end and nose section to the easily-recognizable shape of the LED headlights.
The CX-50’s design features that attract attention include a heavily contoured hood, flared wheel arches, and pronounced plastic cladding. Faux skid plates are finished in satin and large vents are integrated into both the front and back bumpers. The taillights feature U-shaped LED lights that look more expensive and are a nice addition. The Hybrid model will not see any significant design changes, but Mazda may modify the front grille and introduce new wheel designs. Exterior colors and badges will likely be specific to each version.
Interior
Mazda has always delivered high-quality cabins on almost all of its new models. This is something that the CX-50 gas engine inherits. The interior’s fit and finish are excellent, not only is it sporty and ergonomic for the driver, but also the seat position. The interior has soft touches and contrasting stitching, as well as plenty of metallic accents.
Mazda retains physical buttons for controlling many features of the CX-50, which is a departure from other automakers. This makes it extremely convenient and simple to use while driving. The comfort and cushioning of the seats are remarkable, and the leather-wrapped steering wheels feel luxurious. The information on the main screen is recessed and may be difficult to see for shorter drivers, however the cluster of part-digital instruments works as intended.
With a few minor modifications, the interior of the CX-50 Hybrid will be similar. Mazda may add a new engine stop button, updated graphics and icons in the MID, infotainment system, cabin upholstery & trim, as well as a lighter interior color. We’ll need to assess the impact on rear cargo space as this hybrid has additional mechanical components beneath the floorboard.
Features
The Mazda CX-50 is a gas-powered vehicle that offers many modern features and driver assistance. It depends on which trim level you choose. This includes safety technologies such as Dynamic Stability Control, Radar cruise control with Stop & Go, Advanced Smart City Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning system with Lane-keep Assist and Driver Attention Alert, Blind spot monitoring with Rear Cross-traffic Alert, and Mazda Connected Services through the MyMazda app. These technologies will be transferred to the Hybrid model as well.
The U.S.-spec CX-50 includes an adaptive and auto-leveling LED headlight, a power rear liftgate that can be programmed to adjust the height, a power-operated panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, LED interior lighting, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Mazda Navigation System. There is also a wireless charger, Wi-Fi, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, and a premium 12-speaker Bose Android Auto is wired, but Apple CarPlay is wireless. The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid buyers can expect similar features.
