With the majority of auto manufacturers focusing on electrifying their lineups, it seems that you can expect the same thing for the 2024 Jeep Gladiator. Although Jeep seemed to play hide-and-seek games with expectant buyers, Jeep has finally been frank about its upcoming production. Naturally, there would be some changes, including the colors and power. Rumor has it that there would be the electric version of the Gladiator. Is it true? Is it worth the wait?
2024 Jeep Truck Updates
The rumor about the electric version of the Gladiator had been around for the last years, but Jeep didn’t want to admit it. They denied everything initially, but then they finally realized it, especially when a prototype vehicle was seen going through the testing stage in June. The company might be a coy one back then, but now they openly admit their upcoming plan.
The electrified Gladiator seems like a great idea, but unfortunately, it may not be ready soon enough. The expectant buyers may have to wait for a while because the electrified truck would be prepared later for the 2024 model. But then again, the company hasn’t provided enough details about their next production. They haven’t mentioned the design or anything similar. Some speculations, however, state that the electrified Gladiator may have similar features that you can find in the redesigned Wrangler 2023. But then again, even the Wrangler 2023 model hasn’t been released just yet, so the best thing that we can do is to wait.
Some rumors say the new 2024 Jeep Gladiator may also get new color options, but those details are still shady. If Jeep has its hands full, it is most likely to focus on the essential elements instead of highlighting the supporting and accommodating accessories.
2024 Jeep Gladiator Changes
Although the new 2024 Jeep Gladiator would get some changes, it’s unclear whether it would be a hybrid type or a complete EV. But if the Gladiator does take inspiration from the Wrangler, the powertrain would also be included. The current Wrangler runs on a four-cylinder turbocharged unit and two electric motors paired with an eight-speed TorqueFlite gearbox. This arrangement alone can generate 375 hp and 470 Nm of torque. Again, it’s unclear whether Jeep will still be using the same account or they may change it. We should know more once more details are provided.
Some sources (suspected Stellantis) mentioned that the electrified Gladiator might come after the mid-cycle updates to Wrangler JL. Remember that this Wrangler JL is designed as the 2023 model, so the launch date may occur later this year or at the beginning of 2023. Expect the redesigned Wrangler to be available next year, and then you can see some design ideas for the Gladiator. Rumor has it that the updates would include the Unlimited (Wrangler) hybrid unit used in Grand Cherokee 4xe.
Release Date and Price
Although there is still at least a year before we can get our hands on the new electrified Gladiator, it’s pretty exciting to wait. Many people are hopeful that the new electrified version will be promising. That’s why they don’t mind waiting until the middle of 2023 (or even the late) or the very early of 2024. Whatever happens, the Wrangler must debut first, and then the electric Gladiator would follow suit.
Designed as the electric version will make the Gladiator deal with heavy competitors, such as Rivian R1T, Toyota Tundra Hybrid, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Chevrolet Silverado EV. Expect the price range to increase from the current (and regular) Gladiator, which is set at around $40,000. We should provide more about the 2024 Jeep Gladiator once everything is ready.
