If you like big and solid pickup trucks, you may be happy to know that the 2024 GMC Acadia seems to return to its roots. After the car was spotted going through the testing stage, it should be interesting to learn more about the further details and release. It seems that the Acadia won’t only get some redesigned work, but Chevy is also developing their Traverse, so their timelines may be similar.
The Released Images
Several images of the Acadia and Traverse have been spotted in Colorado (in the Summit County area). As mentioned before, the Acadia is getting redesigned touchups meant to improve functionality and style.
Although the seemingly Acadia was covered in heavy camo, from the looks of it, it seems to be the AT4 model or even the AT4X variant. We can’t be sure about it because of the camouflage, but the prototype vehicle shows solid wheels in two-tone models wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler rubber. The camo makes it challenging to drive the car out, but it seems that Acadia is returning to its root. The truck had experienced a shrinkage in the second gen, but GMC decided to return it to the original full size again.
The third row should be bigger and more spacious. Because of the expanded size and dimension, the space would be affected too. The current legroom is pretty limited in length, at only 29.7 inches. When compared to the recent Traverse, the one in Acadia seems tiny because the Traverse has 33.5 inches of legroom.
2024 GMC Acadia Interior and Exterior
Let’s not forget that GMC hasn’t said any confirmation about the details of the 2024 GMC Acadia. Because of the heavy camo, it’s difficult to tell the details of the exterior areas. What’s clear is that the Acadia has a longer wheelbase. Expect a more generous third row and also cargo capacity. It remains unclear whether the upcoming Acadia adopts the Long Wheelbase Chi, used by the Enclave or the Traverse. It’s also unclear whether GM has decided to finally use the (modular) SUV platform, which has been rumored to be implemented for the future lineups of the company.
From the camo, the grille slats peeped through, which suggests that the prototype may be the lower trim (lower to mid-level). It’s not the luxurious Denali. For the interior, it’s hard to tell from the camo. But considering that the Acadia is going through redesigned project, it’s highly likely that the interior would also get interesting touchups.
Powertrain and Performance
The current Acadia runs on a four-cylinder unit with a 2.0-liter capacity, delivering 228 hp and 349 Nm of torque. An optional V6 unit with a 3.6-liter capacity generates 310 hp and 367 Nm of torque. The Traverse only comes with a single unit, the V6 type, but it can generate 310 hp and 360 Nm of torque.
Although it’s possible that the upcoming powertrain would be the carryover, it’s also possible that Acadia may have a new offer. There is a possibility of the four-cylinder turbocharged unit with a 2.7-liter capacity, which is the same unit used by Chevy Colorado 2023. This arrangement can generate 237 hp and 351 Nm of torque.
2024 GMC Acadia Release Date
We still need to wait for further info about the 2024 GMC Acadia. Since the details of the upcoming Acadia are still unknown, it’s also unclear about the price range and also the exact release date. The redesigned work may mean that the price would experience an increase.
