There have been rumors that Imperial would be making a comeback, meaning there is a possibility of a 2024 Chrysler Imperial. If the rumors are true, it means that the ‘royal’ vehicle that has been discontinued for decades may be back to business – and that’s great news! After all, the Imperial has been known to be this flagship creation from Chrysler, and it has served as one of the best productions for decades. Will there be a possibility of a comeback after these long years of absence?
About the Imperial
Chrysler today only has 2 variants for their lineups: the Pacifica minivan and the 300 sedan. Back then, in its grandeur glory, the company has its flagship vehicle, the Imperial. Just like its grand title, the vehicle was able to bring a sense of luxury and prestige, having the pride to compete against Cadillac and Lincoln directly.
The Imperial had had its long existence in the auto world. First launched in 1926, the vehicle straightly made it to the top-ranking model of the automotive kingdom. Within its decades of existence, the Imperial proved itself as this exclusive and trusted vehicle that serves the top luxury transport for the royalties, celebrities, executive leaders, and foremost authorities. During its ‘lifetime’, the vehicle has got tech advancements and upscale accommodations to refresh its appearance and looks. To keep up with the latest trend and to keep it stay stylish, the Imperial has gone through various body styles, such as town cars, limos, and convertibles. It has also offered some special variants, like Derham, Fleetwood, or LeBaron, to make special (and unique) appearances.
What Happened after the Discontinuation?
Unfortunately, the 1993 model was the last year of existence. At that time, LHS upscale sedan (which was coming as a full-size vehicle) was set as the Imperial’s replacement as the brand’s flagship model. However, the company displayed a concept ride having the same name during the 2006 North American International Auto Show, constructed with the Chrysler LY platform. According to Chrysler, they wanted to create a luxury and exclusive vehicle without the hefty price tag. It means that buyers would be able to get inexpensive rides whose performance and appearance are similar to the more expensive and luxury vehicles. It’s too bad that Chrysler officially stated in 2007 that they won’t continue this plan because of stricter regulations for fuel efficiency and fuel cost raise.
Fan-Made Rendering Images
It’s unclear how the rumors started, but there have been talks about the Imperial and the related rendering images made by the fans. On Instagram, Jlord8 used digital illustration to create what they believe would be the future 2024 Chrysler Imperial. The tweaks are made to the 2006 concept, including (more extensive) rear overhang, new wheels, a wider grille, one paint color for the exterior, and also refined (LED) lighting. The rendering image removed the charging port (which is located on the front fender) because they believe this vehicle should only be running on a V8 unit. But then again, this plan may have to change with Chrysler’s future electrification plan.
Possibility of Imperial?
It would be super exciting if the Imperial does make a comeback to the industry. It can be a great alternative to those luxury sedans from Europe, becoming a worthy competitor that can provide extra punch and boost power. Unfortunately, all these exciting things are only rumors because Chrysler themselves haven’t made any official confirmation about them making the Imperial again. It’s safe to say that the possibility of a 2024 Chrysler Imperial would be slim, although it doesn’t hurt to keep on hoping.
